Why We’re Doing This
At Mode, we talk a lot about root cause care. Longevity. Lifestyle. Nervous system. Movement. Sleep. Community. But if I’m honest, the things that shape health rarely happen in a consult room. They happen before the day begins.
They happen on trails. In kitchens. In surf breaks. In gardens. In early light when no one is watching.
Modern Rituals is about capturing that. Showing the part of health that doesn’t need a prescription. Healthcare, hidden in plain sight.

It felt right to start with Matty.
Not because he’s our Head Doctor. But because this ritual has been part of his life long before Mode existed.
We filmed in Dunsborough, where our first clinic operates. A small coastal town in the South West of Western Australia. It’s quiet in the mornings. The air is clean. The light comes in sideways through the bush.
I met him just after sunrise. No dramatic intro. No big setup. Just shoes on gravel and a quick, “You ready?”
He runs that coastal trail most mornings. Sometimes alone. Sometimes with a mate. Often before a full day of patients. It’s simple. Consistent. Entirely his.
As we moved, I asked him the obvious questions.

His answers weren’t rehearsed. They came between breaths. Between steps over rocks. Between laughs.

Before we shoot anything, we spend hours on the phone. Talking about what I’m seeing inside Mode every day. The stories patients bring in. The tension in modern health. The way we want people to interact with us — not clinically, not transactionally, not as a script and refill, but as humans. As guests. As people who want to feel understood.
