Things We’d Prescribe if We Could
No side effects. Just real stuff that actually makes you feel good.
At Mode, we see health as more than results and prescriptions. It’s how you wake up, how you wind down, how you feel when no one’s watching. And while we do prescribe medicine when it’s clinically appropriate, here’s the truth: some of the best medicine isn’t found in a bottle.
So, if we could hand out scripts for the soul this is what we’d be signing off on.
1. Ocean swims (especially the cold ones)
For nervous system resets, full-body presence, and remembering you’re alive. Bonus points if you scream on the way in.
2. Real talk with someone who sees you
Whether it’s a therapist, a best friend, or your mum nothing regulates the nervous system like safe, honest connection.
3. Getting horizontal when the sun’s still up
Nap. Rest. Lie under a tree. You don’t need to earn it - you’re human, not a machine.
4. Laughing until your stomach hurts
The kind of laughter that unknots something in you. It’s wildly underrated medicine.
5. Magnesium baths and early nights
Because burnout doesn’t ask nicely. Wind down like it matters, because it does.
6. Movement that feels like play
Not punishment, not performance. Just the joy of being in your body! Dancing, stretching, running like a kid again.
7. Turning your phone off after 8pm
Your circadian rhythm called. It wants a break from the scroll.
8. Saying no (and not explaining yourself)
Boundaries are a form of self-prescribed peace. Side effect: less resentment, more freedom.
9. Journalling under the stars
Big sky thinking. No rules, no pressure. Just you and the page. You might be surprised what shows up.
10. Asking for help before things fall apart
Support isn’t your last resort — it’s your right. Early care is brave, not weak.
